Study Abroad

Engage in a world class experience

From the jungles of Vietnam and the plains of Africa to the ancient ruins of Greece and the galleries of Paris, more than 60 percent of Wake Forest undergraduates study abroad. More than 400 options are available through University-administered and affiliate programs in more than 200 cities and 70 countries worldwide. Learn more.

Our homes away from home

Wake Forest operates three University-owned residences where students live and study with Wake Forest faculty: Casa Artom in Venice (left), the Flow House in Vienna (middle), and the Worrell House in London (right).

Among the Wake Forest-administered programs are semester, summer and graduate opportunities. These include programs in London, Venice, Vienna, Salamanca and Dijon.

Explore the World

Kaityln Hudgins ('12):

"Study abroad for me meant an opportunity to participate in a different kind of learning. My experiences in South Africa, Spain, and Mexico involved field-based experiential learning…. I recommend challenging yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and experience another way of learning. It’s amazing the things you learn internationally but also about where you come from. It helps you figure out your own identity and what you are proud of."

Explore the World

Caroline Neely ('13):

"WhiIe studying abroad on the WFU program in Salamanca, I was forced to speak Spanish, and I gained confidence in my ability to talk with native speakers. Now, I speak Spanish frequently to friends and I’m even involved in a Social Psychology lab translating data from Spanish into English. I realize that going abroad was perhaps the best decision of my life!"

Explore the World

Andrew Veasey ('13):

"For me, a semester in London meant creating an experience that I could look back on as one of the most meaningful times of my life. Through travel, unique classes, and five months of pure adventure, the experiences gained through study abroad do not match up to anything else."

Explore the World

Kelly Miskewicz ('12):

"Spending a semester in Copenhagen, Denmark was an incredible opportunity that allowed me to become a more independent, confident and cultured individual. It was a life-changing experience that has given me a renewed energy and passion for life. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture while serving others and making a difference in their lives."

Explore the World

David Inczauskis ('11):

"Being abroad with Wake Forest in Salamanca, Spain gave me the opportunity to engage in conversation with members of other countries, opened doors to new points of view, and put the skills that one learns at Wake to the test. Studying abroad is a challenge that forces the mind to adapt, and Wake students have the opportunity to accept or reject that challenge."

Explore the World

Roman Nelson ('12):

"I spent a semester at Casa Artom in Venice, Italy. My study abroad experience provided me a new sense of independence, introduced lasting friendships, and allowed me not only to witness Italian culture, but also to take part in it."
