The health and safety of its students, faculty and staff are primary concerns at Wake Forest University. For this reason, the university requires all individuals traveling internationally on Wake Forest funds to submit a set of forms and information to the Center for Global Programs and Studies (GPS). This includes individuals traveling to international conferences, international research trips, international trips funded through grants, etc., who study or work on Reynolda Campus. All required forms and information must be submitted to the Center for Global Programs and Studies at least one month before individual travel begins. Wake Forest will not disburse funds for international travel until the required forms and information have been submitted to the Center for Global Programs and Studies and necessary signatures have been received.
WFU prohibits travel to countries where the U.S. Department of State has issued a travel warning unless prior approval has been obtained from the Center for Global Programs and Studies. A current list of travel warnings is available at www.travel.state.gov. Faculty, staff and students may submit a request to travel to a country with a travel warning, but should be aware that such requests require additional time for review and that approval of such requests is never automatic.

Mandatory International Insurance
All faculty, staff, and students traveling internationally for Wake Forest University are required to purchase international insurance. Such international travel includes studying or teaching abroad; international research, conferences, or site visits; and any other international travel that directly pertains to Wake Forest University and/or which is funded by or through Wake Forest University, including external grant funds processed by Wake Forest.
The mandatory international insurance available to Wake Forest students (required for students on Reynolda Campus, available to students on the Bowman Gray Campus) is provided by HTH Worldwide. Visit the link to the HTH Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Policy to view the policy and what is excluded. The HTH policy will not cover expenses in the U.S.A. or your home country (for non-U.S. citizens). The HTH price grid for students and HTH price grid for faculty & staff contain information about how much the HTH policy costs, since the cost depends on how long you are abroad. Students participating in a WFU-administered undergraduate study abroad program will have the cost of the HTH policy included in their study abroad program or course fee. This requirement will be waived for WFU students participating in an Affiliate study abroad program that has insurance coverage equivalent to the HTH policy.
Wake Forest faculty and staff may choose either the HTH international health insurance or iNext. The HTH policy is called HTH Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Policy, but it is available for faculty and staff travelers as well. The HTH policy will not cover expenses in the U.S.A. or your home country (for non-U.S. citizens). While the HTH policy is more expensive and must be purchased for each overseas trip, it covers 100% of reasonable medical expenses. It also includes political security and natural disaster evacuation services. Those faculty and staff who select iNext for their international insurance are asked to complete the iNext application and submit it to the Center for Global Programs and Studies, 116 Reynolda Hall.
All faculty members, staff, and students traveling abroad are required to attend a security briefing conducted by the WFU Police Department. Please visit http://www.wfu.edu/police/safety.php for more information. (NOTE: Study abroad students will receive the security briefing at the mandatory pre-departure orientation.)
