I am participating in a pre-orientation program. What if I want to arrive earlier than Saturday, August 20, 2016?

If you would like to arrive earlier than August 20 you will be responsible for arranging both your transportation and hotel accommodations. Moreover, on August 20, you will need to arrange transportation to get to Wake Forest University.  An alternative is to spend the prior night near the GSO airport and return to the terminal in the morning to catch the shuttle. HOWEVER, you will only be permitted to ride the shuttle if you made advance arrangements by filling fill out the Airport Arrival Form. Please submit this by July 20, 2016.

If I make my own way to campus on Saturday, August 20, where do I go when I get there?

You will need to arrive on campus between the hours of 9am-5pm. You will proceed directly to the Office of Residence Life and Housing (located in Alumni Hall). DO NOT unload your belongings! This stop will just be where you pick up your WFU ID card and your keys for your room. You will then proceed to your residence hall. A campus map will be provided with key locations highlighted for the orientation period.

Should I unload my belongings at Alumni Hall on Saturday, August 20, when I stop to get my Deacon Card and room key?

NO! This stop will be brief and then you will proceed to your residence hall where you can unload your things.

What if I arrive later than 5 p.m. on August 20, 2016?

Should your flight arrive after 5 p.m. on August 20, we will work with you individually to you get access to your dorm that night. Please be sure to fill out the Airport Arrival Form detailing your flight information. If you have a delay or cancellation, be sure to call our emergency number at 336-391-3755.

 I am NOT participating in a pre-orientation program. When do I need to arrive on campus?

First-year student move-in day is Friday, August 26, and it is best if you arrive between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. This day will be filled with getting settled in your residence hall, attending various information sessions, and meeting with your Residence Advisor (RA). Additionally, there will be a MANDATORY session for ALL F-1 visa holders on August 26 from 4-6 p.m. in Carswell Hall. Orientation activities will continue over the weekend.

You will not be allowed to move into your residence hall before Friday, August 26. Therefore,  you will be responsible for arranging your hotel accommodations and airport transportation. Moreover, on Friday, August 26, you will need to arrange transportation to get to Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  An alternative is to spend the prior night near the GSO airport and return to the terminal in the morning to catch the shuttle. HOWEVER, you will only be permitted to ride the shuttle if you made advance arrangements by filling out the Airport Arrival Form.

If I make my own way to campus on Friday, August 26, where do I go when I get there?

You will need to arrive on campus between the hours of 9 a.m. – 3p.m. You will proceed directly to your assigned residence hall to unload your belongings, pick up your WFU ID card and your keys for your room. It will be very crowded on campus that day, so please be patient!

What if I arrive later than 5 p.m. on August 26, 2016?

THERE IS A MANDATORY IMMIGRATION SESSION FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SPONSORED BY WFU on FRIDAY, AUGUST 21 from 4-6 PM in CARSWELL HALL.

ATTENDANCE WILL BE TAKEN!

Failure to attend may result in a hold being placed on your academic account preventing you from making changes to your course schedule.

What will my residence hall room be like when I enter?

Your dormitory room will be bare when you first walk into it; remember, college dormitories are not hotels, they are meant to be blank canvases that you can decorate and adjust for your personal comfort. It will have basic furniture such as a bed, closet, set of drawers, desk, mini-fridge unit, etc. Each room, depending on assigned residence hall, is modeled slightly differently. Items such as bedding, towels, wall art, area rugs, and etc. that make a home feel cozy are notincluded. It is strongly encouraged that you order your bedding/towels ahead of time and have it delivered to campus so that the first night you have basic living amenities. Additional items such as lamps, rugs, posters for the wall, etc. can be purchased after arrival. When will my meal plan start?

Dining services will begin on Friday, August 26, 2016. All dining facilities where your meal plan applies will be closed during the pre-orientation period. You may purchase food to store in your dormitory; however, all major meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided during that time.
