Take a four-credit fall semester writing course as the second phase of Global Connections. WRI 111: Engaging in the Academic Conversation is a special section of Writing 111 (a required first-year writing course at Wake) that has been especially designed for Global Connections students. This course explores different features of spoken and written academic communication, from research articles to office hour visits. You will continue to enhance your written and oral communication skills so that you are able to excel in academics and make effective contributions to student organizations and campus offices.
As part of the Engage Writing 111 course, you will be invited to events where you will meet with leaders of student organizations, campus offices, departments, and other WFU groups to learn more about what they do and the opportunities available to you to join their organizations. You will have met some of these leaders during Connect@Wake, but this is an opportunity to have more in depth conversations and interactions in preparation for joining an organization, advisory board, or leadership group by the end of your first year at WFU.
