Take a three-credit First Year Seminar as the second phase of Global Connections. FYS 100: Discourse Communities in the University is a special section of FYS 100 (a required first-year course at Wake) that has been especially designed for Global Connections students. As part of the course, students will analyze how language is used across the university (from speech to writing) in both academic and day-to-day situations. Students in the course will meet and interact with a range of leaders and scholars in the campus community.
You will have met some of these leaders during Connect@Wake, but this is an opportunity to have more in depth conversations and interactions in preparation for joining an organization, advisory board, or leadership group by the end of your first year at WFU.
