Deadlines for New Program Proposals

Given the numerous programs and opportunities available to students, it is strongly recommended that you have a full academic year to recruit for your program. Given this, and the schedule of the Study Away Committee, new program proposals should be submitted for review 14 to 16 months before the anticipated departure date.

For example, if you plan to offer your program for the Summer of 2024, your program proposal would need to be reviewed during the Spring 2023 semester. The Study Away Committee generally meets 4-5 times over the course of the semester. You will want to have a complete application ready for Committee members to review by the middle of March at the very latest to be safe. The same time frame can be applied to Spring Short-term programs that start in May, but as always, the earlier the better so you can start promoting your program.

If you believe you are ready to start a proposal, please reach out to GPS (gps@wfu.edu; 336-758-5938) to schedule a time to discuss the process in further detail. At this meeting, you will be provided with the new program application and budget template.
